How We Came About
LYNELLE – Our resident Home Cook and Flavourist. “ForestCow was born out of our passion for cooking. Having catered and cooked for friends and family for various events and occasions, I was quizzed almost every time for our recipes and cooking methods. Finding it difficult to describe the process and ingredients consistently, as not everyone understands the flair and creativity of home cooked meals, I decided to use the process of “chefs’ butters” as the basis to share my home cooked flavour delicacies.

About Forest Cow
We are a butter, spreads and flavoured spreads blender / manufacturer and co-packer, situated in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town. Our current customer base includes catering companies as well as quick service restaurants. Sourcing raw material from a few local dairies, as well as partnering with importers of spreads and cooking fats, we purchase bulk butters, bulk vegan spreads and bulk cooking fats, blending these to create a curated range of fabulous flavoured spreads, Chef Butters and modified butters. Our flavoured spreads range, commonly referred to as Chefs Butters, Compound Butters or more exotically as Beurre Maître de Hotel, aims to eliminate the need for racks of spices and cooking oils in your kitchen. In just 5 flavours, and one plain variant, we offer you effortless and cost-effective cooking. We manufacture both vegan and non-vegan spreads that can be used in any dish. Our flavored spreads as well as our plain spreads are vegan and halal without sacrificing the thick and creamy taste of similar dairy alternatives. They are made from Palm fruit oil, Canola oil, and coconut oil in a rich, delicious blend that pairs well in any dish.
We realised that many people struggle to find time to cook, or to create dishes that taste great without spending a lot of money. So, we decided to create a range of flavoured chefs’ butters that would make cooking easy, enjoyable, and delicious. Our chefs’ butters are made using only the finest ingredients and are available in a range of flavours to suit all tastes. Whether you prefer the classic taste of garlic butter, the tang of lemon butter, or the spice of chilli butter, we have something for everyone. Our vision is that everyone should have access to great tasting food that is easy to prepare at home. Our flavoured butters are perfect for adding flavour to meats, vegetables, and pasta dishes, and are ideal for quick and easy meals that can be prepared in under fifteen minutes, giving your meals that warm, flavour-full home cooked feel.
